In this opinion piece, explores the policies and activities of the
ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). The author advises President Muhammadu
Buhari to work harder and try not to deceive Nigerians
My life as a child taught me that people are trustworthy, my
experience as a teenager via relationship taught me that some are not, but
today, what I have seen as a politically sensitive adult has taught me the
worst about the concept of ‘TRUST’ infect, I doubt if it can even be used in
the political sphere anymore except when our ‘politicians’ want to use it
deceptively, with this, the little hope we have in such hopelessness has even
been aborted at its very zygote. Nigerians and a change slogan by APC All
Progressive Congress (APC), a party that came with a mission to fulfil,
actualize and live-up the dreams of Nigerians, more effectively was how it sold
its manifesto to the nation, which tempted many who believed its even too late
to enjoy the dividends of democracy to give their perception a second thought.
Nigerians fell in love and got attached to its slogan “change” as if it’s their
family’s eulogy. Then, it became a battle for survival and ‘rulership’ between
a party which came up together from their respective parties with a sole aim of
defeating the then President and also the party who have been ruling the
country for 16 years subsequently. To get this, A sole corruption fighter is highly
needed to preside on the affair of the nation after corruption perpetuated by
the erstwhile administration had grounded the whole country, turning the most
vibrant economy in Africa to one of the depleted ones if not the most depleted.
‘President-General’ Muhammadu Buhari due to his antecedent coupled with the
promise made came in to whisk out the weeds and cankerworms that were
desperately bent on eating Nigeria to the very fabric until it gets poor like
Job in the Bible. Where could Nigerians see their dreams being fulfilled?
Nigerians never believed time like this will come where they could see their
dreams being fulfilled; where employment opportunities will be open for an
ordinary man on the street, power sector will improve on their distribution of
light from the epileptic nature to 24 hours non-stop like aboard; construction
of roads; good health facilities, standard and free education to the young
lads, reduction in government expenses, accountability of government officials
both state and federal and so on were the promises been made on their visits to
all states they visited during their campaign tours. Most of these promises
reached the indigenous old and young, thereby enthused by the path the party
choose to take. This gave the massive turned out of voters to vote in President
Muhammadu Buhari candidature and selection, people made no secret of their
intention to cough out those who has been a pin on our feeble skin, making us
suffer while the grow fat by the day. Some of the reasons they gave were
arguable: Firstly, to improve or at least stabilise the economy, the present
administration is falling in this regard because to a layman in Nigeria today,
the economy is more unstable than our power supply if you know what I mean. It
is not gainsaying that the economy has witnessed a rocket-like descend of the
economy to depleted state which is now tagged recession. To my fond surprise,
instead of hearing about a way out policies or mapped out a plan on long term
basis and short-term option for the revival of the current fate our economy
finds itself, they choose to play the blame game and distract some from the
matter at hand which is worthy of our undivided attention. More surprising is
that the some of us have been captured in this deceit that we now keep blaming
our past and forget there are some managing our present and though they may
be unfortunate to be handed an economy on the brink of collapse if
all things were equal and the leakages were blocked. But Nigerians voted for
change, a positive one at that, and will not rest at spanking you until such is
actualized, without a doubt, you should know the state of things before you
decided to come in, so no excuses. READ ALSO: President Buhari pledges
social justice to unite Nigerians If the people you put in charge of any sector
are not doing well, then flush them out before they flush you out. Secondly,
the welfare of the people had wrongly been abused in this short period of time
this government has taken the helm of affairs. A typified example is the
unjustified killings in Zaria when lots of defenceless and innocent people were
killed because someone thinks it is not right for them to be alive today. Also,
the Fulani herdsmen reported killings in states is another battle the military
has to win, before winning the trust of Nigerians back as regards security.
Today, some have been forced to rely on self-security, a duty exclusively for
the federal, state and local government. Lastly, APC promised Nigerians they
will help in reinstating the national unity in the country, unfortunately, the
Biafra group today had resurfaced and if we careless, they may cause more havoc
than they did before when Ojukwu led the group, their excuse which
painstakingly factual is that Nigerians have been hostile to them with regards
being trusted with the presidency of this country. This is true, but it is also
true that if you cheat your wife and she gets to know, you have also put the
trust she had for you before the discovery in line, so you should take all the
distrust you get and I think they understand this, for now, not so long I
guess. One of the most powerful strength PDP is that it is built on true
federal character. APC must show this element beyond a reasonable doubt for
years if they must retain that seat and the starts from now. Creating a new
ideology is not bad, but sectionalizing the kinds of people that will
popularise it is a sign that the party and its ideology may not last. Stop
the several hits or spank attempt on the opposition because you might only
force them into your party with the hidden intention of coming to come and
cause trouble for you, thus, the intense support and solidarity that you crave
may only get you a deceptive one. We are watching When you fail, do not blame
people for it, the common excuse and we here is that the PDP managed the
country woefully for 16years, progress can never be close when you do not
accept fate and move on with what you were entrusted to do. Take, for instance,
a patient diagnosed as having a critical health problem which he has been
nurturing for the past 16years under a watchdog of a doctor though he’s
committed to helping the patient out. But he couldn’t after a lot of money had
been spent on drugs and others bill. As God will have it another expertise was
engaged who’s well known in treating the disease, his remark and achievement
boost his selection to treat the patient making him the messiah. After a year
the glorified and named confidence doctor couldn’t improve the situation a step
ahead of the previous doctor, saying the problem has been there for long and no
improvement was seen and the disease kept increasing without any solution. When
called for the assignment he saw everything, he knew he could do it and that is
why he accepted it which shows he can do it with no refrain. READ

were given sand, you tend to be disappointed and it is quite disheartening that
our beloved nation is found in the middle of the mall or mishandling, that is
why we seemingly continue to wallow in the bewilderment and today we are faced
with different societal problems like, who should become the speaker of house
of representative, budget padding, leakages in our national treasure,
unimaginable numbers of ghost workers down to the Ondo gubernatorial primary
election crises we are currently on now. This is not the promise you gave to
Nigerians and Nigerians are not fools. We are watching.
